Why Do We Judge?

Why do we judge people on the color of their skin, their voice, religous beliefs, or in any other way they may be different?  I remember watching this movie once, it was called “The Color of Friends” and I remember a guy saying that a family of African Americans having a foreign exchange student from South Africa who was white staying in their house, was like the Jews inviting the Gestapo in for tea.  Why? why do people hate people who are different so much?  What did they do to deserve this?  I know from watching these movies about racism, or my speech/report about the holocaust may not change your minds about your opinions but just think about it, watching these movies made a big impact on my life and in many other childrens lives as well.  “I have a dream...” said Martin Luther King Jr. this man was a remarkable man, he helped set African Americans free.  You may not think of him as a heroic figure, but I certainly do, thinking about it brings tears to my eyes.  Why?  Why could anyone ever be so cruel?  Rosa Parks, another remarkable human being, she would not give up her front seat on the bus to a white person, she is definitely a hero through my eyes.  She was taken by the police and beaten for not giving up her front bus seat to a white, and that to me means this woman had a lot of courage.  I am writing this in the middle of the night but it’s something that has been on my mind lately.  I’ve been thinking a lot about the wars around the world, wars that are unnecessary, wars that are killing innocent people because of their beliefs.  I also have a dream just like Martin Luther King Jr. that throughout my lifetime I will live in a world with no hate, that may sound like alot for a little girl to do, but hey we can do anything we set our minds to, can’t we?  I fear wars happening in my state, my city, my town, just because I may be different from another person.  That is wrong.  No individual should be hated and killed because of that.  And anyone who stands up to that is most definitely a hero in my eyes.  Well this is all I have to say, I hope you take this seriously, because this is an issue, in my belief anyway, that if we work together, we can change.
