So what do the rich people in Haiti do in their spare time...about the same thing people in the States do...and going to the movies is one of them. BrianAtTheMovies - Bourgeois Brian
I have never experienced a more fully, interactive movies experience. There wasn't one minute of the full 2HR movie that didn't have someone in the theater adding dialogue, telling the actors what to do, laughing at the top of their lungs, even jumping up and down out of their seats at the really funny parts. It was probably the funniest movie I have ever been to. I didn't catch much of the dialogue, but we were able to understand the basic story line. Two teens in love bucking against the old traditional ways. The guy who plays the old father of the movie (tonton bisha, "uncle bisha") is actually only 28 but they get him all dressed up to look 60ish. His acting was actually pretty good. It was a slapstick comedy which turned into a who-done-it...go figure. I don't know if I would want to repeat the ordeal...but it was definitely a great experience. Benjamin |

LetTheGamesBegin - Like the opening bell to the sale of the century. You can only buy tickets for a movie 20 minutes before a show. Notice there really isn't any line. I am so glad I was not in charge of buying tickets. |
Johnny wins the lottery...gets the tickects for the movies...

Line to get into the theatre LineToGetInTheTheater - No this is not a congo dance...this is the "line" to go in the theater once you have bought your tickets. Shouting, Shoving and not a inch to spare. You really have to be comfortable with people in your personal space to go to the movies in Port-Aux-Prince. |
FinallyInside - and only after 2HRs of waiting. The best was yet to come. |
